Check-ins
A check-in is a short note about where a project stands, with a mood if you want one. Write one a week and you end up with a dated record of what you were doing and how it was going.

A short note a week,
for every project
Write what you did, pick a mood and get on with your week. Each project keeps its check-ins in date order, so you can look back at what you were working on in March and how you felt about it. The dashboard uses the same history to point out the projects you have gone quiet on.
- ›Four moods: great, good, okay and struggling. Picking one is optional.
- ›Backdate a check-in when you forgot to write it on the day
- ›Each project shows its total check-ins, the average per week and a count of each mood
- ›When a check-in mentions something on your roadmap, Shipchart offers to mark that item in progress
- ›With GitHub or Linear connected, Shipchart can draft a check-in from the issues you closed in the last 7 days or since your last check-in
- ›A nudge email lists the projects you have not checked in on. You set how stale a project has to be and how often the email arrives, or turn it off.
- ›Add a check-in from the terminal with shipchart checkin add, or through the API or MCP server. Writing from those needs a paid plan.
